If your thermostats are older than ten to fifteen years, it would be good to replace them with new and improved stats. Newer thermostats are now more accurate when determining the temperature. Set your thermostat to 67-68 degrees during the daytime and 60 degrees at bedtime to say money. When you leave for a few days set thermostat at 55 degrees. Programmable thermostat are the best way to save money on your electric bill. Once you set it you will not have to fuss with it again. Never throw your old thermostats in the trash. There is a small amount of mercury in them that is not good for you and the environment.

Portable/ space heaters can help in the process to saving money on heating bills. Keep doors and windows closed that heat will be contained in the room you are trying to heat. Most electric portable/ space heaters are about 1500 watts of power. They also produce about the same amount in heat as well. The heaters are 100% efficient as a result of the produce heat is released into the room. It does not costs as much as you think to run a newer portable space heater. (About 12 cents an hour). Always follow the safety instructions that come with the heater for you and your family’s protection.
